For the past three decades, the industries have developed and reached to a status to cater the 45% national pharmaceuticals need along with being able to produce more than 80% of the WHO declared essential drugs. Since the first decade of 21st century is over and the impact of TRIPS and patented drug is getting reduced, the pharma industries globally are now moving in a different and diversified manner. Now the moment has come when every Nepalese pharma industry has to rethink differently in order to compete and sustain the business. In Nepal, the industries are facing the challenges and issues related to the imitations & copying of products, influencing the customers with misinformation about the product and the never ending unethical practices, etc. The positive aspect for Nepal is being a strategic neighbor of India and China, who are gaining aggressive economic growth. This would certainly provide a positive frontage to us and we can be benefitted out of it. The industry now has to invest appropriately in R&D and other area for better competitive advantage over one another.
