    Brand Name : Lunaz
    Generic Name: Luliconazole
    Strength: 1 % w/w
    Dosage Form: Cream
    Class of Drug: Imidazole Type
    Therapeutic Category : Antifungal agent
    Pack Size :15 gm

     Indications
    • Tinea pedis (Athlete's foot)
    • Tinea cruris (Jock Itch)
    • Tinea corporis (Ring Worm)

Mechanism of Action  Luliconazole is thought to inhibit fungal cytochrome P450 (CYP450) 14 α-demethylase enzyme, which disrupts the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol, which is a major component of the fungus cell membrane. Disruption of ergosetrol alters fluidity and integrity of the cell membrane and cell wall. Disruption of ergosetrol also causes disruption of fungal cell membrane synthesis. This causes the death of fungus.

Pharmacokinetics:  Luliconazole is primarily metabolized by cytochromes CYP2D6 and 3A4, and is greater than 99% bound to protein in serum. Diseased skin has increased absorption compared to healthy skin. Luliconazole appears to have a higher Cmax and AUC in patients with tinea cruris compared to tinea pedis. Overall there is low systemic absorption; the half-life of luliconazole can vary and may be prolonged in some patients.
