TIME

    Calcium
    • Prevents or treats negative calcium balance
    • Helps facilitate nerve and muscle performance as well as normal cardiac functions
    • Bone mineral component: cofactor in enzymatic reactions, essential for neurotransmission, muscle contraction and many signal transduction pathways
    Vitamin D3
    • It is a fat soluble sterol
    • Necessary for the regulation of calcium and phosphate homoeostatic and bone mineralization
    • Essential for healthy bones as it aids in calcium absorption from GI tract
    • Stimulates bone formation

Calcium and Vitamin D has synergistic effect on bone growth as well as in Osteoporosis and fracture prevention. Vitamin-D3 plays following important roles:

    • Enhance Calcium Absorption from Intestine.

    • Promote Bone mineralization and reduces bone loss.

    Pharmacokinetics
Absorption : Bioavailability: 25-35% (calcium carbonate); Vitamin D: Fat soluble; requires bile; absorbed in small intestine
Distribution : Protein bound: 40-45% (calcium)
Metabolism : Vitamin D: Hydroxylated hepatically to calciferol (25-hydroxyvitamin D), then renally to the active metabolite calcitriol (1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D)
    Elimination : 80% as unabsorbed calcium in feces(Calcium) , 20% urinary via urine & Vitamin D3: Faeces
