    MOXICARE

    Each ml contains:
    Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride IP equivalent to Moxifloxacin 0.5%w/v
    Pale yellow coloured solution filled in a 10.25 ml overflow capacity gamma sterilized lupolene vials.

    PATIENT INFORMATION

    Pregnancy: Category C

    Storage: Store below 25 °C. Store away from heat, moisture, and light.

    Missed dose: Use the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

    PHARMACOLOGY

    Pharmacodynamics: Moxifloxacin inhibits topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV enzyme that is required for bacterial DNA replication, repair, and recombination.

    Pharmacokinetic:

    Following topical ocular administration of moxifloxacin ophthalmic solution, moxifloxacin was absorbed into the systemic circulation. The mean steady-state Cmax and AUC were 2.7 ng/mL and 41.9 ng•hr/mL, respectively. The plasma half-life of moxifloxacin was estimated to be 13 hours.

    INDICATIONS

    Bacterial conjunctivitis

    DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION

    • Conjunctivitis, Blepharitis, Dacryocystitis, Hordeolum, Tarsadenitis, Keratitis (including corneal ulcer): Instill one drop in the affected eye 3 times a day.
    • For preoperative and postoperative prophylaxis: Instill one drop in the affected eye 5 times per day for 2 days before operation, and 3 times a day up to 14 days after operation.

    SIDE EFFECTS

    Dry eyes, watery eyes, eye pain, itching, discharge, excessive tearing. 

    PRECAUTIONS

    • Should not be injected subconjunctivally or introduced directly into the anterior chamber.
    • Growth of Resistant Organisms with Prolonged Use
    • Avoid Contact Lens Wear for patients having signs or symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis.
    • Should wait until their vision clears before driving or using machinery.

    CONTRAINDICATIONS

    History of hypersensitivity to Moxifloxacin, to other quinolones.
